The School Day
The bell rings & the doors open at 8.50am, a full breakdown of the school day is available here.
If a child is ill, we ask that parents notify school on the first morning of absence and send a note to confirm the absence when the child returns to school. Children should not attend school if they have an infectious illness or within 24 hours of having sickness or diarrhoea. Mrs Wall, our Pastoral Manager will support families where attendance or punctuality are a concern.
In line with Government expectations all schools focus closely upon children’s attendance as this has been shown to have a significant impact upon attainment.
As a successful school we feel that it is imperative to do our best to ensure that each child’s attendance is between 95% and 100%, as recommended by Ofsted.
How do schools work out my child’s attendance?
Schools count each day as two sessions – morning and afternoon. Your child has to attend 10 full sessions (five days, morning and afternoon) each week to achieve 100 per cent attendance for that week.
Leave in Term Time?
Information can be found here about leave of absence in term time. Leave can only be authorised in exceptional circumstances therefore please complete and return an application form should you wish to apply in such circumstances (click here to download the form).
This form should be completed by the parent/carer with whom the child lives and returned to the school as far in advance as possible. Parents/carers must obtain the school’s permission before making any arrangements for leave in exceptional circumstances.
