Carr Green Primary School

Who we are

We are proud that our Governing Body is made up of individuals who play a crucial role in ensuring that high standards of education and welfare are maintained within the school. Each governor brings an eclectic mix of skills and experience which helps drive our school forward.

Chair of Governors: Katie Hargreaves

I am Chair of the Governing Board here at Carr Green. I am a parent and have been on the board since February 2020.

The role of a governor is very rewarding and I feel my contribution is valued and appreciated.

I strongly believe that we, (parents, community and school) are all responsible for providing a good education foundation for our children.

I work for a financial organisation where I have had experience in many roles. They are very supportive of my governor role which I feel lucky about.

In my spare time I like to socialise with friends and I love a good binge on a Netflix series!

Vice Chair of Governors: Andy Meehan

Since 2010, I have worked in the education sector across a number of local authorities; supporting schools and academies on matters including school finance, HR, estates management, health & safety and compliance. Prior to this I had 13 years’ experience in the banking sector, most recently specialising in commercial finance.

Headteacher: Emma Midgley

I am extremely proud to be Headteacher at Carr Green and lead the school forward. However, I do understand that to succeed takes more than one person which is why I find it incredibly useful to be part of our Governing Body. Since joining Carr Green in September 2021, I have enjoyed working with the Governing Body to prepare our children for their futures and develop a school we can all be proud of.

Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and being outdoors.

Will Tolley

I am a parent governor on the governing board having been appointed in March 2023.

I have joined the governing board from a Finance background having worked with a larger worldwide accountancy firm for the last 10 years, across a large sector of clients, including a number of education sector clients. I am looking forward to the next chapter in the journey to excellence, working with the team at Carr Green Primary School.

Diane Clarke

My name is Diane Clark and I am the staff representative on our Governing Board. I have taught in all year groups at our wonderful school over the last 10 years.

I have been in education for all of my working life and have 2 grow up children and 1 grandchild (so far). Apart from supporting our school and its pupils in the drive towards excellence, my interests are around studying and reading, nature and gardening and serving the community.

Stuart Pain

I joined the Governing Board in 2022 and had no prior involvement with Carr Green. My reasons for joining were that I was unable to give the time to volunteering when my son went through school and now he is a young adult I would like to give back a bit.

I am co-owner of a telecom company providing services to businesses across the north. As with many smaller owner managed businesses I go from finance director to customer services to sales rep to delivery driver in the space of a day.

I hope that 23 years of self-employment, coming with an impartial view along with having just come out the other end of the parenting through school journey, that I may be able to add different support and ideas to the board.

Natasha Horsfield

I am a Local Authority Governor having recently been accepted into the role in July 2023.

am an Inspector in West Yorkshire Police and have been a police officer for 26 years.

I have predominantly worked in Child Protection and as I have progressed within my career I have branched out into other areas of Safeguarding. These include domestic abuse and child  exploitation.

I bring numerous transferable skills from the police into my role as school governor.

I have a real passion for helping children and I want to be part of  building a bright future for them. I believe my role as school governor will help towards achieving this goal.

I live locally with my partner and 17 year old son. In my spare time I enjoy walking our cocker spaniel Barney and Belgian Shepherd, Twist.

Claire Isherwood

I was co-opted as a school governor in September 23 Three generations of my family attended Carr Green.

My professional background is Nursing, Health Visiting and Fostering. As a Health Visitor my transferable skills include child development 0-5, safeguarding, maternal mental health, parenting and supporting vulnerable families. As a foster carer I have developed my skills in therapeutic parenting, attachment and trauma. I am passionate about supporting children with additional needs and encouraging children to be healthy.

My experiences have taught me that children need to feel safe in school and have access to inclusive quality education.  All children deserve the support and interventions they need to succeed.  My role as a Governor will be to support the school in achieving just this.

In my spare time I enjoy time with family and friends, we have a caravan on the East Coast and enjoy time with our dog Jessie.

Amy Hughes-Hill

I moved to the area in early 2021. Having spent just over a year with my child in attendance and hearing the great stories from my older step-children about their time spent at Carr Green, I was keen to throw my self in when the opportunity presented its self.

All of the boys in our house have a thirst for education which has been credited to the great learning foundation provided at Carr Green. I feel extremely proud and privileged to be joining such an esteemed group of people contributing to early education in these unprecedented times.

In our down time you’ll find me in Cornwall with the kids and dog in toe or spending as much time as I can with our extended family and friends.
